Dans le cadre de l’exposition inter-écoles à l’Alliance Française de Bologne, avec nos partenaires l’Accademia di Belle Arti (Bologne), la HAW(Hambourg), La Massana (Barcelone), Kyoto City University of Arts (Kyoto), les étudiant·es de 3e année design graphique sont invité·es à réaliser une image sur le sujet choisi par les enseignant·es de Bologne, « All the Colors of Noir ». Durant un atelier de 5j, mené en anglais par Juliet Bates et Sarah Fouquet, les étudiant·es mènent une recherche sur le thème du roman noir.
Le roman noir est un genre du roman policier, et qui avait pour ambition orginelle de rendre compte de la réalité sociale des Etats Unis du XIX° : crime organisé et terreau mafieux, société clanique, anomie sociale, corruption politique et policière, violences et insécurités urbaines. Le roman noir a connu son essor après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, désignant aujourd’hui un roman policier inscrit dans une réalité sociale précise et porteur d’un discours critique, voire contestataire, et sur cette réalité sociale, porteur d’une vision « noire » du monde. Le roman noir, tout en étant un roman détective, se fixe ses propres frontières en s’opposant au roman d’énigme car le drame se situe dans un univers moins conventionnel, et moins ludique.
